How well can the Radeon RX 5600M run games
AMD Radeon RX 5600M
10 Aug 2021 - Graphics card reviewed

While some games have more powerful requirements than this GPU, the Radeon RX 5600M is only really challenged by the most demanding games released today, but normally it is more than capable of running games with a stable frame rate at 1080p.

This card meets game requirements up to DirectX 12.

We take a look at game performance achieved on this graphics card when running 2021 popular games. This short Radeon RX 5600M game hardware review looks at the graphics card frame rate performance on Ultra graphics settings at 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions. The Radeon RX 5600M can run the recommended graphics system requirements for 740 games today, of the top 1000 most demanding.

The 1080p FPS on Ultra for the Radeon RX 5600M shows us that Far Cry 6 is getting a playable result of 29 FPS, and then we are seeing Battlefield 2042 returning a weak 20 FPS while another game on our list is the Back 4 Blood which is getting 47 frames per second at Ultra 1080p.

One of the growing popular screen resolutions for PC gaming is the wider 1440p. So we wanted to see how well the Radeon RX 5600M performed at 1440p by taking a look at some of the current popular games. First we looked at Battlefield 2042 and saw it deliver weak frames per second across the following graphics settings - Low: 39 FPS, Medium: 31 FPS, High: 21 FPS and Ultra: 15 FPS. We then checked the performance on Back 4 Blood to see if that runs well. It was playable with a 36 FPS at Ultra 1440p. In summary we feel the Radeon RX 5600M running at 1440p is going to need to lower its graphics settings to medium on modern games.

How many years will the Radeon RX 5600M graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the Radeon RX 5600M in your PC? Upgrade time for this GPU is currently placed at 2 years

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the Radeon RX 5600M? If you are thinking of upgrading this graphics card then we would currently suggest the 20 Series GeForce RTX 2070 Super Max-Q. This PC hardware upgrade performs 28% better and can run 822 of today’s 1000 most demanding PC games.

Radeon RX 5600M Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
\r\nThe Radeon RX 5600M is an entry-level laptop graphics card which is part of the AMD Radeon RX 5000M series.

\r\nArchitecture
\r\nIt is powered by the 7nm Navi GPU, which has 2304 shader processing units, 160 TMUs and 64 ROPs.

\r\nGPU
\r\nThe central unit runs at 1035MHz and goes up to  1265MHz when the boost mode is triggered.

\r\nMemory
\r\nThe RX 5600M comes with a 6GB frame buffer of GDDR6 through a 192-bit memory interface, while the memory clock operates at 770MHz.

\r\nPower Consumption
\r\nWith a rated board TDP of 150W, it requires at least a 450W PSU.

\r\nPerformance
\r\nThe Radeon RX 5600M been built as a Low/Mid performance graphics card for 2020. Its direct competitor is the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Ti Mobile. It will run most triple AAA titles released during 2020 on medium to high graphics at 1080p screen resolution. With adjustments and lowering anti aliasing this Radeon RX 5600M card can confidently maintain 60+ frames per seconds on high graphic settings at 1080p. Moving to 1440p screen resolution and the graphics card may need to be adjusted down to medium in order to maintain 50-60+ fps.

\r\nSystem Suggestions
\r\nThe Radeon RX 5600M is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080. We recommend a mid range Ryzen 5 processor and at least 8GB of system memory for optimal gaming performance from the RX 5600M.
